On page E1 of today's
Los Angeles Times, Elizabeth Jensen reports, "Starting Monday,
top-rated Today will devote three mornings to
The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty ... According to news
reports, among its pages are allegations of drug use by the
president when he was younger." (emphasis added) The forthcoming
book is authored by trashy author Kitty Kelley.
Here's a question: How
many mornings did the Today show devote to John O'Neill, the
co-author of Unfit for Command? According to
TheMediaReport.com research: Zero.
An August 11, 2004 column by Ann Coulter concluded the same.
Also, in true pro-Kerry
form, the Times story fails to mention that a key "source" in
Kelley's book, Sharon Bush, a former sister-in-law of W, has complained
that Kelly has lied about her telling Kelly that W used
cocaine at Camp David. A
Washington Post article (Thursday, 9/9/04) was among others
that reported this. The Post quoted Sharon Bush,
"I categorically deny that
I ever told Kitty Kelley that George W. Bush
used cocaine at Camp David or that I ever
saw him use cocaine at Camp David.
When Kitty Kelley raised drug use at Camp
David, I responded by saying something along
the lines of, 'Who would say such a thing?'
Although there have been tensions
between me and various members of the Bush
family, I cannot allow this falsehood to go
unchallenged." (emphasis added)
In other words, Kelley's
book has sleaze and filth written all over it. Yet the
Today show will devote three mornings to this piece of
crud. Ugh.
TheMediaReport.com says ... Today
is yesterday's news.
